I think the concept of Sabbath is something forgotten today.
Of taking a day off.
In the Jewish tradition of not using any machinery.
It’s a good time to breathe and slow down, whether or not you go to church.
And I can’t imagine society without a Sabbath.
It was only the progressive era in early 20th Century America where we had a 5 day workweek, it was traditionally 6, I wonder if would be 7th without Sabbath.
I also think of Guy Delisle’s “Pyongyang” where in North Korea people work 6 days a week, and “volunteer” for a 7th day.
So don’t forget to rest, and be grateful.
