I love documentaries.
I love slam poetry.
I love seeing youth shock you with the skills.
So I have been interested in seeing “Louder Than a Bomb” since I heard about it.
My expectations were high, and completely and totally exceeded.
Chicago produces some amazing slam poets, I know some like Wil Gibson and Billy Tuggle (who is one of the hosts) .. and having a competition to shoot for makes for some amazing youth poets. Having the chance to write, to write about what they care about, write about their hurt, their love, their passion and their pain makes them fuller people, amazing people and amazing poets.
The film concentrates on 4 teams and 4 poets from the 2008 Louder Then A Bomb poetry slam for the Chicago area. 43 teams from around the area showing their skills, showing their wordsmithing, showing their powers.
These young poets inspire me.
Glad I DVR’d it I will be watching again .. and one of the best documentaries I have ever seen.
Catch it on #OWN today at 1pm, and put in on your DVR. It’s amazing. And have tissues nearby, it will touch your heart and spirit.
