I am not a hoarder.
I find the show “Hoarders” really, really scary.
I am definitely a packrat. I have TONS of media I have accumulated mainly in my teens and 20s.
And I love paper. I love free papers, I love reading, I love newspapers, magazines …
But, I have tended to not throw it all away quickly/recycle as many of these mediums are meant for.
This means a lot of newspapers, magazines … that have been left in boxes.
Basically a lot of junk. Some of it is interesting, most needs to be recycled.
Growing up we always had lots of books and papers everywhere. My dad’s desk was wicked messy, but he said he had “a system.”
And I frankly like to have lots of stuff around, kind of a nest as it were.
But, time to let things go.
Not everything is meant to be read.
Sometimes you pick up a book at goodwill, a thrift shop, etc. and it looks interesting, but it’s been collecting dust for years. Donate it to goodwill or your local library. That magazine that may have an interesting article, recycle it. Those CDs you no longer use donate them. Let your stuff go.
I am not saying I will ever pack light. I am not saying I will have a spotless house. I love having lots of CDs, LPs, DVDs and books. But, it’s beyond time to let stuff go.
Let it go.
