I’ve been a big fan of group “Your Body is Not an Apology” with Denise Jolly for a long time. I’ve through BMI literally kg/m^2 is a terrible way to judge health. And that diets do more harm than good.
And I am a big dude who loves strong, curvy women.
I’ve been reading Lindy West’s excellent “Shrill: Notes From a Loud Women” this week. Our culture of fat shaming hurts everyone. People should be proud of who they are at any size. Bodies are remarkable things. We only get one life. We should be proud of who we are.
That some men feel like they can have sex with fat women but not be seen in public with them is abysmal. As is the amount wasted on diets. That most clothes in America aren’t marketed to half the population. That movie seats and airline seats can be all too small. And that is okay to be mean online. Fat is just an adjective.
Love who you are at any size. And lets be excellent to each other.
