This graphic novel is odd because I read part 2 first (Sons of Liberty: Death and Taxes) (because it’s at Walker library and part 1 is not). Decided to buy this series and may donate it to the library to fix that.
This is a very cool series of 2 books so far of graphic historical fiction that focus on 2 escaped slaves, given bewitching powers. The first involves Benjamin Franklin, anti-slavery Quakers, African traditions, slaveholders, and slavecatchers and a little of the French and Indian War.
The Second involves pre-revolutionary times, stamp acts, the colonial Governorship of William Franklin in New Jersey… Both are excellent, both move very fast, both use the superhero genre into historical fiction, and are fun, quick reads. Would recommend for 12+ and graphic novel fans. And keep in mind that these are fictional even if they do involve actual historical figures.
Highly recommended and looking to a third book from the Lagos Brothers.
