I am inspired by all the people I know recovering from addictions of various kinds. They are stronger then they know.
I feel very lucky that I am not afflicted with addiction. I definitely have the creativity or at least tenacity to write this blog everyday. And the powers and limitations of bipolar disorder. Often addiction comes with mental illness and creativity. Despite what Apple says, it’s hard to think different.
I am currently the reading the fascinating “Waiting: A Nonbeliever’s Higher Power” by Marya Hornbacher. It’s very difficult to deal with addiction and the twelve steps for many and not believe in a higher power or God(s).
It’s really an excellent book for this skeptic pagan theist who grew up Unitarian Universalist. It’s not easy to be a seeker.
All blessings to those in recovery.
