It’s extremely rare to find excellent soul food. Most especially if you live in Maine. It is one of the things I looked forward to in Connecticut.
I went to the very well regarded Sylvia’s I think in New Haven which I enjoyed but wasn’t blown away by.
This was much better.
Modest, casual place at a strip mall that really needs more parking on 1055 Huntington Turnpike in Bridgeport, CT just over the Stratford border.
Today I had BBQ pork ribs which were awesome and fall off the bone. Absolutely delicious candied yams, good collard greens and okay mac and cheese.
I definitely look forward to going back with my wife and some friends and trying more things.
Delicious, casual and comfortable although the strip mall definitely needs more parking. ****
