Heard about Ray Bradbury’s passing yesterday.
Have sent out a bunch of links with obituaries and how he changed literature.
I want to share two of them with you all. Both by science fiction authors. One is be Neil Gaiman as an introduction to Bradbury’s “The Machineries of Joy”. The other was from John Scalzi that about “meeting the wizard.”
I can’t say I ever met Ray Bradbury but he was part of one of the most important reading experiences in my life. On Christmas on 1st grade, I got a YA Time Travel book. And read that, and HG Wells “The Time Machine” and Ray Bradbury’s “The Martian Chronicles” on one awesome day of reading. After that time at 7 anything in my parents huge bookshelf was fair game. And I loved reading even more.
We will all miss you Ray Bradbury, you are one of the great authors of the 20th Century and your words you will live forever. And if you haven’t read “Fahrenheit 451” yet, you need to.
