New York, New York

Next Saturday will be my first overnight in New York since January 2005. We used to live there at 151st and Broadway (Harlem Heights/Lower Washington Heights) from visits to Lanna in January-June, 2003, before moving there in June, 2003 – January, 2005. All I have been since then is to drive up the Henry Hudson, or once the Cross Bronx. And to get some fried chicken at Crown Fried Chicken at 149th and Broadway in the old neighborhood, much better than anything in Maine.

For city stuff I usually just make the two hour relatively easy trip to Boston in the bus, train or car. New York City is a good 6 drive from Maine.

Looking forward to staying in a hostel bed again, I haven’t since I had my first date with my wife January 18-20th, 2003 where we met at the Gershwin Hotel, which has hostel beds. So yep, it’s just over 10 years since I have known Lanna. And it’s been a good decade.

And looking forward to seeing two shows at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade theater to see some long form improv. Lanna took 3 classes at UCB and I took when I lived in Manhattan.

And also looking forward to seeing the wonderful Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt at the 4th Universalist Society of New York on next Sunday which is just a block south of the American Museum of Natural History at 76th and Central Park West.

And at $29 for a hostel bed for the Broadway Hotel and Hostel I could do this again. Now if I can get some nearby street parking to 101st and Broadway. May take some driving around.
