I am pagan. And grew up Unitarian Universalist.
I guess I should celebrate Yule.
I do love the idea of fires to welcome the light.
I like the idea of letting things go that don’t serve us. I have so much of that.
But, I grew up with Christmas.
Unitarian Universalism is a very liberal religion that encourages free thinking in a search for truth.
I like the tree, I like the presents, I like the lights.
I love the carols. I love singing “Silent Night” to candlelight.
I don’t like the commercialism.
I don’t like the stress.
I don’t like how it drives people crazy.
I don’t like how it makes many feel even more alone.
Be compassionate this time of year.
Give someone a call you haven’t talked to in a while.
Send your love. Invite people over.
Celebrate with family. Be grateful. Try to hold back your spending.
We drive ourselves crazy for the “perfect” gift, when it is often time and love.
Be blissful, rest, love yourself, love thy neighbor.
And be gentle with each other.
Say Merry Christmas, say Happy Holidays, say I love you, say I miss you.
And send out your love. I know Squiggy is trying to send me his love as I try to write this.
Gratitude is a wonderful thing, both giving and recieving.
We need to be better to each other.
And yes, on Tuesday the days will be getting longer again for 6 months. The darkness has almost reached it’s height.
Celebrate the coming of the light. Celebrate loved ones. Celebrate your neighbors, celebrate all of your communities.
And remember to love each other. And if you can’t do all of that watch “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, it’s awesome.
