I finished my first book of 2016, Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “Between the World and Me.”
I feel like I am still processing.
We need to do better as a nation.
We need to work to help all people.
We need to acknowledge the deep racism of our nation and how many profited from slavery.
Acknowledge the terrible injustices of our policing. The injustice of the drug war. Of substandard housing. Of demonizing the poor. Of Jim Crow. Of the whole concept of whiteness itself.
We need to do better. We need to prosecute injustice. We need to get the killers off policing and into prison.
We need to love each other. We need to help each other. We need a saner and better nation.
