I just finished reading Rose McGowan’s “Brave” a few days ago. In it she talks about how Harvey Weinstein whacked off in a hot tub when she was pretty young and then blacklisted her. She also talks about how Robert Rodriguez was terribly abusive and awful. And how the Cult of Hollywood has allowed abuse for so long.
I know the recently departed Anthony Bourdain was heavily against all the abusive people he knew in fame and food.
And I just watched the “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” episode with Louis CK and kept wondering what is wrong with him.
Let alone the rapists like Bill Cosby.
Or the horrible, gross and frightening behavior of Donald Trump, who is still surreally the President of the United States.
I hope with the Me Too movement and some things coming out of the shadows that things are getting better. But we have a very long way to go. Patriarchy is far too insidious and powerful to change and go away so easily.
