I was very excited to go to the US Open and really enjoying my first match and hour or so of tennis.
And then the rains came and didn’t stop.
Sixteen courts playing tennis, became just the massive Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Still a great view of tennis from the 300 section but much farther from the action.
In court 17 watching Jelana Ostapenko I was in the sixth row with open seating.
My Arthur Ashe seats were in row Y on section 324, although I never quite went that high.
Instead of probably catching parts of ten matches or so, including more views from courts I wasn’t watching, I saw 2 complete matches and one set.
I still love the US Open but wish I got Wednesday seats this year.
Unfortunately Queens is a frustrating drive from Ansonia. Only 90 minutes in good traffic but frustrating. I was able to leave at 9 and be at the courts just after 11am and not miss any of the first match. Public transit would have taken far longer if I went into Manhattan and then back out to Queens.
I would love to try to do a couple days next year and save up for it. Maybe with my friend.
