Insanities of Health Care

Although she has many less posts then I do, my sister Melinda Layten is an excellent blogger. Her blog today is about the absurdities and maze of finding where to do follow up care after the hospital. And the difficulties of being a caregiver. It is also framed by tragedy.

I recommend her post: “Close to Home … A Hospice Murder Suicide” as much better than anything I could write today.

It also makes me think of how far away my parents, sister in brother in law are away. And yes 1 hour of 24 hours for home hospice every day is very nice, but it’s often not enough. God bless the caregivers.

A good read – your sister paints the picture of the family hospice situation well. My mom also provided hospice care for my father. She was a RN, but not Superwoman. I don’t know how she did it.
I underwent training last year as a hospice volunteer myself. Tell your family to see if there are any local volunteer hospice organizations – if they haven’t already – it seems to be a growing trend.

That’s good information. Hospice is great work but they only have so many man hours.
