Poetry break

I have been on a poetry break.

I do read my poem a day e-mails from poets.org and listen to “The Writer’s Almanac” with Garrison Keillor but it’s still a break.

Haven’t been writing poems.  Haven’t gone to a reading in a while.  I hope to change that soon.

John “Survivor” Blake is back in town.  Thinking of going to the Dreamship Community show on Saturday and Rhythmic Cypher on Sunday.  Wish I had more funds.  Also want to do the artwalk for First Friday.

And I did finish a great book of poetry last night.  Patricia Smith’s “Blood Dazzler” about Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans.  Great and heartbreaking. ***1/2

So, I think my poetry is returning.  It’s part of my life that makes me happy.
